Plot: Harry and Beth wanted a different kind of holiday. So they chartered a boat to drop them off on a remote coral island on the Great Barrier Reef. Paradise? The island was idyllic, surrounded by a wide reef, covered in palms and full of birds and other wildlife. It was small and totally deserted. Or was it? After snorkelling, making out and having fun, the young lovers soon come to believe that there is someone else on the island. Things go missing from their camp and then they discover someone else’s footprints in the sand. At first amused, this becomes disturbing as they realize the island has a ghost! From paradise, the holiday quickly turns into a nightmare of arguments and mistrust… Inspired by actual events.

Top IMDb Reviews (Caution: May contain spoliers)

not a horror movie, more a European art film (by unhappyrabbit)
I saw the film at the Melbourne Film Festival and I must admit, I was really pleasantly surprised.I went with two other women, and we couldn’t stop talking about the film afterward. It really left us thinking about the kind of things that aren’t usually discussed in horror movies or thrillers. It’s more like a European art film than an Australian horror film. It has a slow suspenseful build-up, and then something shocking happens, then it has a really intriguing ending. It really made us think about everything that had happened during the film. Both the actors are great. The actor

playing Harry is gorgeous – and the girl playing Beth is a star in the making. Both are in fact. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the new Aussie big- thing in Hollywood in the next few years. The music is fabulous, very atmospheric, and the photography was stunning. The dialogue was very real and life-like.Overall I found the film thought-provoking and it stayed with me a long time afterward. It’s not super scary, as I was expecting, but it’s creepy. It’s really unusual, and probably not to everyones taste but my friends and I loved it.

Seems Better If You Follow It Up With Something More Apocalyptic (by elephant_range)
Scanning the reviews thus far, my take on this film is a bit more charitable than some have given. True, the storyline and plot devices are hackneyed as is the word ‘hackneyed’ . Yet, I enjoyed the scary drawings on the hut walls, and the scrawls on the pages of a found book. The the obvious overdubs give a charm to things. Anyway, I watched this film as part of a bleak trilogy late one night: It was preceded by Casa De Areia House of Sand and followed by The Road. It just seemed to make sense that way. And, like the other two films, Uninhabited made the most of some fantastic

scenery. I think that its surface creepiness magnified the more apocalyptic feel of The Road. And, I’ve got to say that was far more than I expected from this movie.

creepy little gem (by reddrokk2)
I was shaken up by Uninhabited when I saw it as part of the melbourne film festival. It was creepy but very beautiful, and it really got under my skin. My partner and I talked about it a lot after the screening. He didn’t like it as much as me, he was expecting another Saw I think, but to me it’s more like the Harrison Ford movie What Lies Beneath, or even Picnic at Hanging Rock. To me it was a relief not to see bodies carved up and splattered everywhere. There are really only two main actors in the film, and they were good. They kept me guessing the whole time and they were very

watchable. I hope it gets out to a wider audience because it offers an alternative to the usual blood and guts fare that you see so often and I look forward to seeing it again because there’s a lot to think about in this creepy little gem.

Well executed (by KyleBel)
The movie starts very slow, with a cliché type love story.. two lovers deserted on an island for a getaway. However the two are in for a surprise when what they think is Kid’s messing around with them ends up being something a bit more. I don’t want to spoil it to much, but this is one of those low budget inde films that has great acting, amazing cinematography and the directing to put it all together. The concept behind this movie is a bit overplayed, but if I could say anything about this film it’s like The Grudge, Meets Castaway; so, you can see how this one made for some

intriguing screen play. I really hope people give this one a chance and I would imagine that if this movie had a better marketing campaign it might have made some real box office numbers. Keep in mind this isn’t for your blood, guts and sex horror fan. This movie is for the person that truly appreciates cinema and real cinematic suspense. There is no great effort put into Visual Effects or even the use of violent imagery, but the point is very well made. Overall I give this one an 8/10 and say it’s Definitely worth the Watch.

A fine effort. (by ChrisMichael81)
Let me preface this by saying there were many things that annoyed the hell out of me about this movie. Even so I would still recommend it on a limited basis. First off, I wouldn’t altogether classify this as a horror film. A ghost story yes, was it horrifying? No. Overall it had very nice scenery, solid acting, and a pretty actress. There were many details that were bothersome. Please don’t make the score of your film an hour of a girl panting. In fact just don’t have a girl panting at all. It’s been done and it’s just plain cliché and sloppy at this point. Second,

distinguishing night and day in a film or any story is a very important thing. You can’t have multiple scenes were a character gets up in the morning, walks out to the beach, looks around ,, and walks back into the setting sun. What is that? It didn’t happen once, it happened more than 3 times. Day literally lasted for seconds in this film. Other than that the story was descent and I didn’t hate it so.. yeah. A mild tolerable watch.
